This is going to be more of a controversial post about eating out. Most people won’t agree with me. Most people will get mad. They will most likely say, “Dude, you like steak and that is your thing”. But the thing is, if you haven’t tried pheasant meat or pheasant stew, you are definitely missing out on some cuisine that is totally worth exploring.

I was once exposed to this special bird back in 1998 when my mother was struggling to get a foothold in culinary school My dad and I used to hunt them all the time and one day he brought back a bird that was not your typical blue bird. He told my mother that he had been tracking it down for weeks and finally was able to get it. My mother cooked it up for a school project and she got an A in the class and was recommended to the top notch restaurants in New York, where she resides today. But she owed it all to those tender looking and supple pheasants that my dad brought home every once in awhile.

Every since then, my mother had a growing and strong demand for pheasants and even game birds in general to be involved in her cooking processes. Her best dish was bird stew. I stuggled with my weight a while back and it has had me realize that the food and what we eat is a determining factor in achieving good health. 26 Steaks on one table and they were all for me. The best part about it was the beautiful people around me too. I realized that once we were able to finally calm down for the day, tasting steaks wasn’t all that bad. That was when I really wanted to explore the world.

Steaks are the top of the line food wherever you go. The best part about them is that you can tell the quality of a city by their finest steak. It costs a pretty penny to get our there and try them all, but that was exactly my intent.

Testing fine dining and judging vacations is an awesome job. I won’t kid anyone. But the best part about it is seeing different cultures. Steak in Chicago is much different than in New York, and even salad has a different taste. But making the steak selection in every city is the best part about traveling. You really see how committed people are to their work and their food.

Anyway… I have a t-bone in front of me so I must get going. It never gets old.
